Years ago, my lovely hubby banned me from buying more shoes.
I know, right??!! What kind of husband would do that. Is it a form of abuse?!!
All women are addicted to shoes. We cannot walk past a shoe shop without at least glancing in the window. And the physical will power to walk past is, at times, unbearable. Those shoes have your name on them. You already know what you will wear them with. You have to have them.
I think I've said before that I live in flip flops during the day. They are so easy and comfy. Slip them on, flick them off. But come the evening. Heels all the way. They make me feel amazing. They make me feel sexy. They make me feel more feminine. And what girl doesn't want to feel that way.
My mum is to blame for this addiction. Even now, at 80, she loves shoes. She used to wear a pair of heels every day. The shoe sales were hit with a vengeance. Now, she's unable to wear all her beautiful shoes, but when I FaceTime and I'm off out for the evening, it's my shoes she wants to see. Her eyes light up and a silent "oooooo" escapes her smiling lips. I get as much pleasure from seeing my mum enjoy my shoes, as I do wearing them.
For me, the first giddy rush of seeing, trying on and buying a new pair of shoes never wears off. I still get that inner buzz when I get them out of their box... Because they are the finishing touch to whichever Sarah is coming out to play.... Ahhhhhh, bliss.
But don't get me wrong, beauty can be a painful thing!! I'm often found with these beautiful, blissful shoes in my hand by the end of the evening!!! Obviously, as all girls know, some shoes are 'sitting down' shoes. This concept totally confuddles my Dicky B.. "Why buy them if you can't wear them", he cries..??
It's quite simple.... BECAUSE I HAD TO.
And to my Beautiful Bex, I'm sorry Babe... This addiction is hereditary.. I've seen the beginnings of it in you. I see the way your eyes light up at that pair in the shop. I know you 'window shop' on line. A secret addiction that cannot be contained. So, every time you send me the link to those shoes you love, I understand, I get it....
BUY THOSE SHOES, BABE... They have your name on them.
