He's been using his celebratory status to stand up against animal cruelty. He's not giving full length lectures, just small sound bites that are eloquent and heart felt. I'm completely sickened by the trophy hunters that are all over social networks. Flaunting their kills and taking pride in their ability to kill a defenceless animal. It has to stop. I'm a firm believer that if you're in a position to defend those less fortunate than yourself then do it. But being in the public eye you're able to promote charities and causes, fight bullying and prevent abuse.
Cruelty to animals, in which I'm encompassing animal neglect, is when we cause suffering or harm upon any animal; Obviously purposes other than self-defence or survival. I'm not a vegan nor Vegetarian, so this isn't a rant against all things to do with animals and their abuse. I respect vegetarians and vegans if they truly live by their beliefs. Whether it's fox hunting or big game hunting, bull fighting or cock fighting, the list is sadly endless, I have no time nor understanding of it. What is the need inside some people to watch helpless animals be mauled and die a slow, terrifying death. There is no way on earth that this can be deemed sport. It's totally incomprehensible.
Zoosadism : Cruelty to animals sometimes encompasses inflicting harm or suffering for personal amusement.
For me there's an underlying worry about people who hunt for their own personal amusement. Is it a short step away from wanting to abuse children or those considered to be weaker than themselves? It's definitely a power play to make themselves feel superior not only over the animal but I suspect over other humans also. An unspoken 'if I can do this to an animal, just imagine what I can do to you.' Certain psychopathologies have a history of starting on small animals and have a terrifying tendency to lead up to children. Again, I'm not putting everyone who hunts into this category but I do wonder about their moral compass, to what they feel is acceptable.
So, do we post pictures of these big game hunters and the poor defenceless animal they've killed whilst it was unaware it was being hunted, having no time to either run or defend itself. By reposting their sickening faces we are adding to their infamy, increasing their egotistical tendencies. On the other hand though, we need to make the world know of their atrocities, of what they deem to be acceptable. We need to name and shame them. I can't believe that they get pleasure from this. It saddens me that there are people like this in our world. I have absolutely no sympathy to the dentist that killed Cecil; he knew what he had done, he allowed that beautiful cat to die a slow agonising death and then tried to hide the collar. Is he above the law? Of course he's not. Just because he can afford to have such a repulsive hobby doesn't mean that he's exempt from what is right and wrong.
I'm very well aware that there are many issues involving people that need to cheerleaded and campaigned against but at the moment these zoosadists are taking up too much airspace. They need to be stopped. To be honest I'm a believer in supporting the fight against all forms of abuse and neglect whether it's towards people or animals. We are on this earth for a short time, we should be helping and protecting, loving and nurturing. I have my own views on politics and that's where they shall stay, with me. I'm not writing a blog to offend or hurt anyone; so no hate mail please! But we do need to teach our children and the younger generations that this abusive behaviour towards animals is unacceptable. This planet is theirs too, it's their habitat as much as ours. We all need each other for the natural balance in nature.

The earth, its ecosystems, and its creatures are all deeply connected. Thus, the existence of many species depends on the survival of others, and don’t think human beings are an exception. As disconnected from nature as many of us humans have become, there are many animals we rely on for our benefit and wellbeing. Believe it or not, many animals actually help people just by performing their natural roles in their environment. And we’re benefiting from their services for free!
